9-11-01 Lest we forget.

AHSA Commandos overcome a powerful Sacred Heart team out of Hattiesburg tonight by a score of 36-12. Before the game the players, fans and coaches from both teams joined in remembering those who lost their lives in attacks aimed at all Americans by Muslims on September 11, 2001. Also remembered, was our military and all other civil servants who put their lives in harms way to keep us safe especially those that have made the greatest sacrifice and their families. While some of the players on the Commandos team may not remember the tragedy of this day, I am sure that the majority of you remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news of the attacks. Because of the magnitude of this tragedy, the details have been emblazened into who we are as individuals and as a country. The tragedy and the lives lost that day and the lives lost fighting the terrorism that is based on the Islamic religion, should never be forgotten.

"O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and let them know that Allah is with those that keep their duty."

Qu'ran, Sura 9:123

Before the game today, I saw people of all ages join in prayer. Then I saw young men do "battle" on the football field but never with any malice towards one another. After the game those same young men shook hands and prayed again, together. This is our way of life and many of our countrymen have given their lives so that we may live peacefully here.

Remembering 9-11-01 certainly puts football in perspective and how insignificant it is. At the same time, we must remember how precious it is to be able to live in freedom. The freedom we have has been purchased by the lives of all those young men and women who have freely chosen to make that ultimate sacrifice knowing they would not be able to see their sons on the football field or daughters on the sidelines leading cheers.

I will post more photos later. Until then, let us remember real heros. Thank you to all who have served this country. And please remember, there is an enemy out there, an evil enemy. Lest we forget, remember 9-11-01.

Highland at AHSA Commandos September 4, 2010

The football Commandos had their home opener

on September 4, 2010 at the CroDome. The victim was the Highland Bears and the outcome was one that Commandos fans liked. The Commandos put away the Bears with a final score of 52-27 with the home team coming out on top and improving to 2-1 on the year.

While early on the Commandos traded turnovers, the offensive and defense got cranked up. With several long scoring plays on offense and multiple defensive plays pushing the Bears back, the Commandos finished strong and were able to let some of the starters rest in the fourth quater.

Next week at the CroDome the Commandos wil take on Sacred Heart. Game time is at 5 PM on September 11, 2010. See you there.

Commandos vs Harvest Time

August 26, 2010 the AHSA Commandos traveled to Abbeville to battle the Harvest Time Lions. After a tough loss to the Lions last year in Abbeville the Commandos bounced back and defeated Harvest Time in a close back and forth classic in the semi-final game of the LCSAA playoffs.

Again, this year the Harvest Time Lions pulled one out on their home field defeating the Commandos 32-6. The Commando squad will have another crack at the Lions later this year and I know that the result will be different.

Good luck to the Commandos this Saturday as they take on Highland Baptist. Don't forget to come out and support your AHSA Commandos this Saturday and make some noise. See you there.
